OT - December Birthdays

Happy birthday to all the unfortunates who keep losing their special day in the Yule Tide Madness.


My husband is one such soul. His birthday is this weekend. This year, in addition to the Christmas Traditions, he is competing with the complexities of family grief over the death of his parents. I put the farm project on hold this week to stay in the homestead and attempt to help stabilize his emotional balance. The adult sons and I are conspiring on how to be sure he knows he is appreciated.


He asked for frozen wife dinners for his birthday. He has been too busy to eat well and wants to be able to pull a home-cooked meal out of the freezer while I am working the farm project 4 hours north of here. I can do that. I find great serenity in cooking. Yesterday I made lasagne and roast beef with veggies which I will package and freeze today. Oatmeal raisin cookie and bread dough are on today's agenda. Just pull 'em out of the freezer, bake and enjoy.

I hope that your hubby feels some peace and love on his birthday sweetie..... Some things just change us and the holidays can seem very strange for a while....I know I suffered badly from survivors guilt even though I knew what it was.... Showing him he's loved and appreciated is so nice

Dec 7 is the birthday of my ex, so I know what you and your hubby are going through with his birthday being in December. Now I've got a friend I car pool with daily, and there's a situation with him that comes from the other end of the circle of life. His mom died on Christmas Day. So I try to be mindful of him, too, when work lets us off for the Christmas holiday.

Happy Birthday to the hubs/ beloved. I can totally understand the want of home cooking. I miss it and cooking for one is no fun. I have a couple of Dec birthdays that I try to make personal to the recipients, time often being the best gift...but lasagna is close!!!!
Hugs arfie, cook away and if you over do it? well let me know and I'll sent a left over dish lol.

...My daughter was born the day after Christmas so she never had many kids at her birthday parties. One year I rented a room at a fancy hotel with an indoor pool. Those girls had a blast.

Send me some of that lasagna good buddy sounds bloody lush.. have an (estranged) older brother whose b day falls on 26th Dec.. Boxing Day no less here in Blighty.. and I used to feel sorry for him his b day the day after Xmas. What would he have to look forward to all year long? When b day and xmas a day apart.. now I dont bloody care...each to their own.. still sorting

    Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
