Hey Muji, sorry that you reinjured that ankle. Then again, you are supposed to take it slow during this time off. Much less frustrating then doing it at home I am sure. Healing hugs.

I agree, Muji. When I got sick with double bronchitis while traveling overseas in Dec, my x-rays, meds and ER visits were about $150 per visit. Where it probably would have been thousands in the U.S. I hope your ankle feels better soon.

Double bronchitis, blue? Heaven forbid! I had a painful and difficult enough time of it just with this ankle. It was all hobbling on and off planes even with wheelchairs in between. Your double bronchitis reminds me of my being in the hospital for pneumonia for 4 days back in June. Your bill was $150 per? Before I left home, the hospital said it had billed by insurance company for $9,600. $2400 a day. Gulp. For that I could have been at the Plaza in New York City eating caviar and drinking champagne like a rock star.

People here in Mexico are being really kind. By the time of my last flight down here the pain must have been etched on my face. The flight attendant very mercifully upgraded me to a first row seat in first class instead of having me hobble all the back to my 11th row economy class seat. Then she babied me all the way to landing at the airport near San Cristobal.

The kindness didn't stop. I've come to this San Cristobal hotel so often that the staff know me well by now. They helped me buy crutches from a pharmacy and have them delivered today on a Sunday. They're also having meals delivered from my favorite Mexican restaurant by waiters from there who know me. If you have to be in pain, it's really nice treatment.

I'll be here for 2 more weeks to get well enough to teach come Fall. Thanks for the get well wishes, everybody. They're magical kindness to me.

Amazing to me that with so much anger/violence/disconnect in this life that there is also kindness/compassion as well.
