Have you disccussed this with him? Have you asked him to be supportive, or maybe he's confused by this? I'm not sure what answers may help.
If he is a reader, maybe "I Can't Get Over It" (a book) might help you both. I read it and its wonderful.
Some other types of people prefer denial. Such as, 'If my wife was abused as a child, should I hate her parents? should I be concerned that this means she doesn't like it when I touch her? does she trust me? maybe it didn't happen? maybe its all in her head? where do I stand?'
I know its cliche, but each of us tries to understand how things affect us (first) and then our beloved (second). It doesn't mean we don't love them, just that we are human and cannot escape this thought process.

At times it feels like he has a tight hold of my heart and at times he loosens his grip.
We had a big blowout and he is now in counciling himself and it seems to be working(so far).
As of for myself I have been seeing a therapist and seeing a psychiatrist for sometime now and started alanon in Jan.
