I was telling Leo today that my mind has been especially active this week during my sleep. Night before last I had PTSD nightmares, nothing memorable, just the usual. I don't hardly notice what the subconscious dished up in fearful movies any more, it's almost boring. I've gotten so used to digesting nightmares that I usually wake up saying "yeah, yeah, whatever, bite me, I've been scared better by bigger than you, believe me."
Last night, though, I had an extended beautiful dream of riding around town in a taxi chatting with my high school buddy I see in Uruguay on my visits every year. Nothing happened, which was the point. It was peaceful and just nice riding around and talking about old friends. Uruguay is where I was in a car bombing as a kid during Uruguay's civil war. I got PTSD that way, so riding around peacefully in a car was symbolic of the triumph of peace over war in my heart to me.
Then when the taxi bill came at the end of the day and it was a whopper. But, never mind, in my dream I had won some sort of literary prize for that exact amount. Totally a dream fantasy; I've never in real life entered such a competition. In my dream, though, I got to foot the bill and make the whole day be on me.
What's up with such happy dreams? I'm used to the nightmares, but the happy dreams really get my attention. I had to tell you all as my witnesses, I just had to testify, as it were. :-) I wish you could bottle dreams like that!
Do you all have random wonderful dreams out just nowhere right alongside of nights of the usual nightmares?

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Your dream sounds so wonderful! Very happy for you. I will send you a bottle!
Great dream, so lovely for you, Muji, yayayayayaya!!
I'm glad you related to that idea of mine of talking back to my nightmares when I wake up. I really do. I have so many I just get sick of interpreting them. I know I have PTSD soaked into the core of my subconscious and my subconscious spits out bits and pieces as it tries to catch up on a lifetime of digesting all that stuff.
But yeah, I say "bite me."
