Hello, New here.. I have PTSD since i was a child... On the 21st I am going to a state that really stirred up my PTSD wore than before. I am really anxious about it but want to see my friend since she moved back. Anyone have any coping mechinsims to help deal with the PTSD?

I have a state where a lot of awful things happen, and it is never a casual thing when I find myself there. If there were any people there who were nice to you, look them up, meet them for lunch or whatever, so that some kindness sweetens the trip. May God bless your journey.

Welcome from me, too, Fairy. When I first came here members passed on a link to therapist Pete Walker to me, and I still go back to it about once a week because Walker's site is so full of good practical PTSD nuggests. Here it is.

Thank You all for the welcome, I talked to my friend today... the one I am going to see and I made her promise me not to bring me to that certain town that stirs up my ptsd.. Because she know's I don't want to risk running into HIM!

Less than 12 hours to go before I leave.. This is going to be a long trip. It will be good to see my friend but I will feel even better when I am back home far away from that state. Have a good night all... I am headed to bed after I finish packing up my van for the trip in the morning.

I can't say my plan worked out, I guess he moved counties and right down the road from my friend because I ended up running into him a lot... I couldn't wait to leave! I was having flash backs and anxiety attacks left and right and at one point I thought I was going to pass out it was so bad. I am home now trying to calm myself from the disaster that has become my life. I even tried a new reading type game my friend suggested just for it to have a tripper point in one of the chapters, After that I stopped playing it. Hope everyone here is doing better how my vacation turned out. Talk soon. FairyFire

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.
