My son is serving life at the age of 21
Rhony
I'm feeling really lost right now. I've a number of issues going on all at once and my head feels like Picadilly Circus. I know the main problem I have to come to terms with is my son who has just turned 21 got sentenced to 29 years min to serve at the Old Bailey in April. I just for the life of me can't get my head round it. From the age of 13, he got drawn into the County lines and was groomed by his elders. I live in London and the whole gang culture is ripe. Please help??

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

I have been around prison a lot due to being an advocate for wrongful conviction... and once a person is settled in they really can make some good choices .. better choices
What I have found is prison is a world unto itself and there are actually a lot of opportunities for people once they become used to being there
There are usually several educational opportunities as well as crafts such as woodwork or leather work.... etc
He can turn his life around in prison
Gentle hug... I know this must be really painful......Your son's life has changed as has yours but please know that it isn't over.... Deep breaths and baby steps.... xo
Now I'm 63, and she's served her 25 and is out now. He's married with kids and doing well, so things turned out ok. It's a long road, but I hope the same for you. Sending you support, Rhony.
ouchus maximus. i can see where that would be a tough nut to chew. getting those mixed emotions into words can help with the sorting.
