Hey I Am Ashley! I am a 16 year old girl from Wisconsin who came out on August 8th! My parents won't let me grow my hair and get earrings and wear girl clothes and makeup cuz they say it's too embarrassing :( what do I do :(

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

How exactly are your parents stopping you? (Your answer might help for better advice)
Beyond that, they may need more than 6 days to get used to the idea. Although, if they'd been paying attention, there should have been strong clues before now. (I've lost touch with a friend who thought that her preschool son might grow up to be transgender. Could have been a phase, but it really didn't seem like it. She was okay either way.)
Might help to educate them on the dozens of sexual issues people can be born with. Speaking of which, talking to your pediatrician might be a first step?
I would try and link up with a teen support group in RL for transgender teens..... If you can I would also talk with your family doctor about it.... He/she may be able to refer you to someone who works with transgender..... I'm glad that you're here.....xo
do you know of any programs in your area that are supportive of lgbtq who may know of a good counselor/therapist to help your parents become educated?
it is heartwrenching the number or tragedies that happen due to lack of information - complete lack of education.
