My 4th doc for day 48 of itching + anger tomorrow
My neurologist's appointment today resulted in his telling me to request a referral for a 2nd dermatologist opinion from my kidney doctor. He wants a dermatologist who works with my kidney specialist directly so as to be sure of this kidney failure prurigo nodularis diagnosis I got from a dermatologist this week.

The thing is, as this dermatology website about it says: "Treatment is difficult. Due to the intensity of the itch patients often go from doctor to doctor looking for relief." Isn't that what my neurologist today suggested I do? I've already been to a primary care doc, a dermatologist, and a neurologist this week--3 docs in 1 week, not counting my p-doc. No relief. Now to a 4th doc? Really?
But I did ask for that referral to that 4th doc today. Just that it's been 48 days of this now. 48 days of itching stress will drive a person to despair. I've used a tube per night of every prescription and over the counter cream of every type now, for nothing. So my PTSD's all over the place. When I do sleep, I have wild nightmares.
About that: these 48 days of this is truly triggering my PTSD by day, too, now. The constant itching and sleep deprivation is making me short tempered when I teach class. I'm not losing my temper with my students, but I am letting a curse word fly here and there about something else in a lecture. I fear one of my students will report me for being vulgar in class even though I'm not cursing at one of them. Guess what topic I'm teaching on in my psyc class tomorrow, day 49?
The 2nd stage of the 5 stages of grief: anger. How's that for a raging itch with a side of enraging irony?

Well, good morning to you!Today is National Roller Coaster Day. Are any of you going? It's also National Tell-A-Joke Day! Come up with some and share!I'm not bright with jokes these days, but I'll start:"Today I ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon...I'll let you know." :D

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

You take all the time YOU need. The rest will follow. You have intelligence and soulful retrospect on your side. Here wishing you the best for however long you need it.
Maybe try this... "Students, I want to start off this lecture by sharing something a lttle personal. Grief occurs with any change because every change incurs loss. Today we are talking about anger and I want to let you know I am angry. I am grieving the loss of control. I'm suffering an intensely uncomfortable physical symptom and being shuffled between doctors in search of relief. So, lets move on with the lecture but if you hear a cuss word fly, have patience with me and as you go on with your lives, keep in mind that others behavior may have nothing to do with you."
Sending a gentle hug
much support and prayers.
Coping with the bug feelings that aren't there and coping with PTSD flashbacks to memories that aren't there doesn't leave many resources to be present in the present to whatever really is there. Not to mention that you have another reason to doubt whether what your brain is telling you is real or not. This is not peaceful, no.

The good news is that by posting here about how miserable I was, I didn't take it out on my class today when I taught the chapter on Anger in my classes on the 5 stages of grief. Once again, venting here worked to prevent PTSD blowups out there in the world. Thank you all!

How to deal with itch problem in stage 4 chronic kidney failure?
Since we know high urea nitrogen is the root cause of stage 4 chronic kidney failure, bringing blood urea nitrogen under control will help to deal with itch problem:
1. Improve kidney condition: kidneys are responsible for discharging urea nitrogen. When kidney function is impaired, urea nitrogen build up, so when kidney function is improved, much more urea nitrogen will be discharged and also itch problem is remitted.
2. Limit protein intake: urea nitrogen is the end product of urea nitrogen, so the more protein stage 4 chronic kidney failure ingest, the more urea nitrogen are produced. In this light, limiting protein intake is also helpful for controlling blood urea nitrogen and remitting itching skin.

These posts really help me with that. What also helped today was that I went out to dinner, and a former student of mine was in the restaurant. She has kidney disease and is farther along than me, having gone through dialysis and a transplant this past year. She confirmed that she, too, has had my symptoms, and spoke about the causes you've mentioned here. I'm sorry she's been through this, but I've gotta tell ya it's really good to get the validation I got from her and from you.
Gracias, amigos. This helps tide me over until I get to the dermatologist my kidney doc's referring me to.
