meditation share - self-will

here on this second day of summer vacay, i woke up worried and control freaky. the elder children, 10 and 8, started campaigning for visits with friends as soon as i opened myself to interaction with them. here on a farm, friend visits require making plans with the guardians of the visiting friends. grown-ups are such complicated critters. . .
my control freakasaurus is rattling her proverbial cage this morning. why?!?!? because **i** said so! ! !
today's read from "courage to change" is helping to calm the i.c.f. (inner control freakasaurus). typing out and sharing these meditations often helps to reinforce them in the chaos of my hyper-active brain. just sharing. . .
------------begin quote---------
in the words of socrates, "life contains but two tragedies. one is not to get your heart's desire; the other is to get it."
translation: my will gets me into trouble. i aim for some goal or other, but even when i get it, i am rarely satisfied. it doesn't make my life complete, so i raise the ante, set a new goal, and push even harder. or i don't get what i want and feel inadequate or deprived.
the only times i have ever found lasting satisfaction were when i let go of self-will and committed myself to seeking the will of my higher power. prayer and meditation are two means by which i seek to discover what god's will holds for me, and they help me tp gain access to the power to carry it out.
sometimes my hopes and desires are forms of guidance. when i am willing to place god's will above my own, those dreams have a chance of becoming a wonderful reality.
today's reminder
the path to my true heart's desire is to surrender to the will of my higher power.
-----------end quote------------
apologies to any who are offended by use of the g-word. no theological debates intended.
yup, typing it out did, indeed, help to calm the icf. so far. the real test will be in my next interaction with the munchkins.
thank you for the sharing space.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I like when you post the courage to change stuff
Big hug <3
stay brave. may the courage to change find you.
letting god lead the dance.
small steps, big faith and lots of prayer. i believe the prayer is the best available method for keeping those lines open. sometimes i briefly hear what just might be the tune we are dancing to.
just believing. . .
proof irrelevant. . .
those festive undertones are my very motivation for the rephrasing. respecting god's will does not need to be a form of punishment. my sense of god is that she/he/it loves to party hardy. let's boogie. . .
