I was shocked to have a loved one rage at me about my having PTSD today, telling me to stop it as if I could turn it off like I can turn off my big screen tv with my remote. This loved one knows everything about it, my trauma history, the medical info, and still they insisted.
They scoffed at my physical scar on my left arm from a bomb burn when I was in a war zone as a missionary kid abroad, saying "yeah, whatever" dismissively.
I DO wish I could just dismiss my PTSD like that, I really do.
But I can't, and having someone close to me rage at me for that really hurt. It scared me, too, because this loved one is one of my caretakers now that my 10 years of living alone independently is impossible and I need home health care.
I feel very frightened and alone now.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

this is one of the places my support network is quite helpful. when i listen to/read my sibs-in-healing agonizing over events 50 years past, i listen and empathize to the best of my ability, even after i have heard their trauma tails often enough to have them memorized and embellished. especially then?
i don't believe it is too much to extend those rights to my loved ones. as one who has been on both sides of the help desk, living with the trickle down effects of ptsd is not any easier than living with it as a patient. as a patient, i have far more support than i do as a supporter.
for what it's worth
working through these confusions with my loved ones provides me with considerable healing mojo.
Much affecction, hermano
