I don't know if there is any such thing as litigation anxiety, but? ? ? Anybody got experience with family lawsuit stresses and how to manage the anxiety attached? The CPS and family court dramas attached to the deaths of my son and his wife were my first family court rodeo and I didn't much like the ride. The thought of going through all that again has my stomach tied in knots and they are not responding well to my therapy-as-usual. Modifications and/or new tools needed.
My departed son's sister-in-law wants to adopt her sister's 3 orphans and has sicced a lawyer on us We have yet to hear from the lawyer and there is room to believe she is delusional in her certainty that he has taken her case, but? ? ? It still feels like a hatchet lingering over our necks. My son and his wife seem to be screaming from the great beyond. This sister was downright abusive to my son's wife. There is not a fiber of my being that believes either of them would want their children calling her, "Mom."
The settlement from the first go-round is less than a year old and seemed to have been going reasonably well, but giving the children free and easy access to both branches of their family tree is looking like an even greater challenge than it did a year ago when the father's lawyer was after us. We dared to hope all that was behind us when the old man died last year. It was just hoping. This really isn't much of a surprise. It still sucks like an industrial hoover.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

My estranged birth family is ripe with jailhouse/housing project lawyers, revolving door divorcees, etc., so I am all too familiar with the phenom, but have felt mostly protected by the estrangement across 1800 miles of social distance.
The continuing attacks from my departed son's in-laws feel like sucker punches. No wonder you guys can't afford to pay your bills. You're too vested in sending lawyer's kids to college.
They are sucker punches.... You're right and they should be putting the kids first.... I am so sorry that you have to go through this.... Big hug and a blessing....xo
I want to believe they are as concerned for the children as we are and I even believe I have seen evidence that they really do, but? ? ? In actual fact, the farm life the kids are currently settling into is as alien to their inner city conditioning as the surface of Mars and their staggering list of handicaps makes visits impossible for them. I am clueless what they are imagining.
The in-law hyphen is hard enough to jump without worry of being dragged into court, yet again. I never managed get to the other side that hyphen with my son's wife, much less her birth family.
In the processing of her death, I have been finding it much easier to grieve the loss of my Life Niece's HS best friend than the DIL who called me, "Monster-in-Law." My Life Niece showed at the funeral for her Life Cousin's sake. She's not quite sure when or even why she lost her best friend, but that grief was mostly processed by the time of that fatal car wreck.
There is no blood between us, but that is how I spell family. I sincerely believe they felt the loss of my son as deeply as I did. The eldest daughter and the youngest son quite literally carried me and ran interference for me when I was falling apart.
