Justice... though it is pure evil... long

Hey all
I need to TELL someone and you are the only ones I CAN tell. But like everything, it needs background.
To put it in few words, I have come to understand that my family is toxic. As young as 7 or 8 years old, I would get hit with guilt trips that I had just caused my sister to probably die because I failed to find something in a drug store while my mother waited out in the car. And that is just one example.
More recently, after a failed attempt to reconnect a couple of years ago, I have been estranged since being accused of running an under age brothel out of my house six or seven years ago, things have gotten even worse. In March I got an email from an old friend offering condolences for the passing of my father. My family had direct ways to contact me - most notable through facebook where I play games when I am resting my back.
That, that was a hit. I had always planned that after my mother passed hubby and I would send for my dad and let him retire away from the fighting and drama that is the rest of the family. I found myself grieving for a man I had not seen or talked to in 15 years for the vague hopes of what might have been.
Also though our family friend, I head a couple weeks later that they wanted to sell the property my sister and I half own. I learned to love horses and that there were better things than the constant fighting there. The only good memories from my childhood are from that property. It was not something I needed at that point in my grieving for my dad.
I live two states away from that property, there is no way I would ever be able to use it, my sister will make sure that anything I create there she would destroy, and I could really use the money. So, yeah, it is time to sell it. But this gives you an idea of my mind set. I sent my MIL a power of attorney as she lives locally to get that done.
OK - I have to give a bit of back story from another direction. My whole family are slobs, vindictive, and crazy. The neighbors to the property have hated them for DECADES. Hated them to the point that they started a campaign to get them to leave. There were multiple lawsuits brought against them and my mother even did some community service time for animal abuse.
It worked, and the 70 acres has been left empty for a few years now.
Back to the present.
MIL has been having a BLAST digging up information on the property. She is going to go next week to pay the five years of back taxes that had the property slated for auction next month. She has hired a lawyer to deal with the paperwork transactions and my family.
And she has found a buyer...
It is the guy who started the campaign to get my family to move out...
Revenge is a dish best served cold. I feel that I should feel bad about that, but my goodness does it feel good!

Last week I heard through the family friend and from a niece that my family wanted to repair the family bonds that were broken. That they wanted to reach out and be family with me once again...
when they got my email address?? they sent me an email wanting my ok on them putting the property up for sale. Nothing more.
Thanks for sharing your family's story. I'm so sorry for what you've been through with them, and for what you're going through now. Yet, even so, when you share about it, it is a comfort to others of us here. Especially on Mother's Day. Even though your story isn't specifically about Mother's Day, it shows how some of us have to deal with dysfunctional family manipulation through guilt for gain on the part of unscrupulous kin.
It's not a popular thing to step back from toxic family dealings. In fact, the vacuum we leave is often filled with spin and/or outright lies villainizing us behind our backs. But that's the price we pay for refusing dirty family deals.
It's nice to hear a story that confirms what we all hope for: that truth will win out in the end. And in your case, it finally did. Good for you.
I am in full packing mode right now. The hopes is to tear down our house in the next month or so... then we have to get a new house built, sell this one, find one we want to live in, and move... Just a few things to get done...
Wow, that's an amazing thing.
A similar incident regarding a family property happened to me. Then they stiffed me of my share of the profits of selling the property. Luckily, I expected that.
I wish none of us had to deal with such poisonous crapola from people who should be those we can trust. But sometimes the wheel of fortune turns in our favor---or at least against theirs.
Smiles and hugs to you,
Leo
Normally I would just let them keep the money... they want to sell to pay medical bills that apparently stacked up over two years - but why wasn't he in a VA hospital???
Now, with this last hit, begging other people to put us in contact so emotions could heal then only wanting me to give up my share of the property - yeah, I don't give a crap about if they have debt or not. MIL has hired a lawyer who promises that things will be handled fairly for both sides.
And just right now I could really use the money.
Nice to meet you 52!
Family can be so hard to deal with. I am so lucky that my hubby and daughter are here for me!
I will start being around a bit more.
hugs all around!!
He gave away his things like a collection of antique rifles and pistols, to their children knowing I needed help. Other belongings like his truck to my nephews and nieces.
I got nothing they shared all between them selves and their children they acted like I did not exist knowing my circumstances.
My blood boils at how toxic, crazy and selfish they are.
It makes me sick how dysfunctional families treat the scapegoat.
To the main sibling abusers I wish them the worse!!
The things they say and do are beyond evil.
To the ones that turned a blind eye. I simply do not care about them.
I hear you. Good luck in "dealing" with them. I would just cut them off your life. NO contact is the only way to not have their toxicity infiltrate through their evil actions, underhanded actions and words...
The only way to deal with psychological evil is not to engage with it.
Then build your life away from them.To rotect yourself.
Not even the human right to know your father died.
