I feel a tad bit silly for being proud of a 58 year old man for politely, but firmly, telling his daddy, "No." Nonetheless, I am quite proud of my beloved for having done exactly that when the FIL pressured us to . . . I am not sure what he was pressuring for in this round. This time around, the FIL was right when he called my hearing problem, "Convenient." This is me, just minding my own business.

My beloved got that item off his list Friday. Saturday found us in Nacogdoches, exploring the history of The Big Thicket and processing the tremendous changes in his family. Whatever the evers of your personal whats, the death of a mother remains a big deal.

Soggy enough that aquifer might even be full by now. Maybe. The boom sure has taken a toll on the ground waters. . . We beat the storm and arrived in the homestead early yesterday afternoon, minutes before the downpour commenced. The tarp roof had blown off the chicken roost while we were gone. I didn't notice that one until I saw the chickens weathering the downpour under a bench. I decided on a nap before I dealt with yet another temporary fix to a temporary structure. I sleep incredibly sound during thunderstorms. It was a nummy nap and yes, I did get the roof secured before the chicken bedtime. . .
