Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

So...what one doctor thought 5-10 years ago, maybe very well be different from what another doctor thinks now.
And well...even the best of people make mistakes.
That said, if you want to come down with a million diseases...study medicine. All of a sudden you'll start to wonder if that bug bite is a tumor. Half of the diseases out there look very similar to something else. That's why they get paid the big bucks to figure out which is which.
To me...it's less about labels than about results.
So if you want to try a different type of therapy that's supposed to be better for a different condition...I'd at least consider it.
For this reason quite often now you hear mental health professionals discussing 'labels' as opposed to diagnosis
Symptoms can be treated though regardless of what the diagnosis will end up being..... I know it's hard but try to be patient
I would work with your doctor though and if you want to you can always ask for a second opinion ….. Big hug......xo
The symptoms of CPTSD and bipolar 2 are similar, so my experience with my diagnosis isn't all that rare. The thing is one's environmental (stuff that happened to you from the outside) and one's hereditary (in your DNA), so the treatment for them's got to be different. I got lucky and got a great PTSD doc after my dx was revised, so all's well that ends well for me.
Like patti said above, "it's less about labels than about results." In the end, I got results. Just speaking from my own experience, go for the results, scotty, and it'll be all right.
you saying you cant remember numerous events in your past- this does
sound correct with DID see as follows:
Dissociative identity disorder (DID), also known as multiple personality disorder, is a mental disorder characterized by at least two distinct and relatively enduring personality states. There is often trouble remembering certain events, beyond what would be explained by ordinary forgetfulness.
I definitely would go with your gut instinct on this- Peace Stay Up!!!
A real life friend (well aquaintence) adopted two children from Russia. Christian...had problems from the start. His younger sister did much better. My son was friends with their younger son in 1st grade. Although they're not friends anymore, I've run into the family from time to time and asked about how they're all doing. Last I heard Christian was in a fascility getting treatment. I can't even being to list ALL of the things that they have done over the years trying to help.
It's really heartbreaking. I believe that I'm the ONLY parent that ever invited the boy to come over to my house to play. (Kid was a perfect angel...too perfect actually. I know how it goes with kids with issues when they blow up, they blow up. At one time, I'd lived through it with my own son.)
There’s very few things that for me harder to cope with than a provider who diagnoses & treatment plans seem instinctively wrong, and my past has a very long list of doctors who I put trust in even though my gut instinct was screaming warning that something was wrong & the consequences of not seeking a second or even third opinion are still affecting my health today. The worst affect of “misdiagnosis” and having the wrong doctor is how it can destroy any future relationships with providers & faith in treatment methods.
If you have doubts or receive a second opinion that differs from the original, my opinion would be to explore fully the diagnoses, both with providers and research on your own. It helps me to try to remember most providers see so many patients every day and whether by choice or by circumstances they don’t have the time to devote to getting to really know & connect with their patients, and the most important thing I try to recall is that they aren’t me. They can’t feel what I feel, see what I am going through every second of every day. They only get snapshots of the worst parts, to see me in crisis symptoms, and even if I’ve managed some kind of stability sometimes time only allows for an inadequate summary of everything but no actual time to address it.
My suggestion, based on my experiences and advice from others is to stay open minded & honest to yourself & your doctors. If you disagree or something doesn’t feel right, let them know and ask them to clarify why and how they came to their conclusions as they may see something you don’t. And if you encounter the unfortunate kind of provider who isn’t willing to listen, educate, and most importantly address your concerns, don’t put up with it. Let them know what your needs and expectations are & as there are those providers that just are right for you..., look & find the one that is going to provide the care you deserve & meets your rights to be listened to, educated and respected.
Sorry..., that was long & likely confusing, but I am here for you Scotty, fighting a similar fight to get the right care and help understanding what is going on, and sending you tons of support.
Best wishes & lots of luck & hope that clarity come soon, and the road of healing becomes easier to see. Hugs
