So i was curious if this group was only for people suffering PTSD due to military, or PTSD from anything. Also I was wondering if this was for people diagnosed with PTSD? I think I do have PTSD surrounding a difficult time in my life, but im not sure. I dont want to go to a professional because I doubt they would be able to help. Id just rather talk to you guys here first.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

We are here if you'd like to talk about it.... xo
You mentioned quite allot of the hot topics in this forum. Share freely. Share often.

I'm glad that you're here though.... This is a good group with some great people.....xo
Just a patient, not a doc, but speaking just for me I recommend seeing a professional because there's a lot to what donnawanda says here about PTSD being an injury. There's a lot about PTSD that is not only of the mind but of the brain itself. My psychiatrist has me on Prazosin, for example, because it counteracts excess adrenaline in my brain, a chemical hormonal imbalance, not something willpower or talking would counteract. So my best approach is to match the peer support I get here with my psychiatrist's support, too.
As for where my PTSD came from, I'm a triple case:
1. domestic violence, having had a mentally ill bipolar father who refused professional help and was violent in blackout rages and a mom who gave as good as she got;
2. combat,
3. sexual assaults from a military pedophile who took advantage of the fog of war to prey on us kids in elementary school
I like how on this site recovery from all three is supported just as much without differentiating between them. My PTSD is also called the "Complex" kind not because it's better than anybody else's but because that's the word they're using these days for PTSD that rewired the brain at the same time as someone was developing their young brain. It means it's more likely to stay chronic though be totally cured. A lot of my focus, then, is on learning how to be high functioning with the intrusiveness of symptoms kept to a minimum. That's not the case with everybody here, and yet again I find people's support regardless of whether their approach to symptoms is identical to mine or not..
Sorry for what brought you here but glad you've joined us.
Welcome, and share what you can and as you can. We don't push, and if all you can say is, "I hate people being around me", believe me, we'll understand that without needing to know *why*.
