glad you worked it out, muji. i kinda miss that cultural blending of jose mujica and gandalf. now you got me curious if jose mujica ever read lord of the rings. it's a bit hard to imagine your namesake wasting time in middle earth, but he is eclectic enough to make me believe it entirely possible. at the very least, i'll bet he's read some of tolkien's philosophy works.

check fact before publication, but i believe "El señor de los anillos" might be as successful as lord of the rings. i find it hard to believe that jose mujica doesn't at least knows of it and would recognize your avatar as gandalf. it is one of the most translated books/movies in the world.

i'd cherish an opportunity to hear your namesake's review of it.

It's good to be back online here. I had a bad CKD day today as for the first time the nerve damage has gone from both legs up my right arm really sharply. Being able to tell y'all about it helps me bear it. Thanks for your friendship, amigos. It really helps.

the first translation of "the hobbit" was in 1947 when jose mujica was 12. i can easily imagine his developing spark of greatness standing in line for his copy. wouldn't surprise me a bit to discover he still has it. i am tempted to call him the first "locavore." he thinks global and acts local.

i'm crying, muji. i checked in on jose over the course of this discussion and . . . WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! ! ! his most recent news flash is that he has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. yeah, yeah, yeah, he's 89 and has lived a GREAT life, but. . . WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! ! !
