Hola, amigos, I'm back! From Mexico now....
Hey, all! I've been in Mexico for the summer since June 2nd, and it turned out that from then until today I couldn't log into Daily Strength due to tech issues that had to be resolved. Thankfully, they just got resolved today, so it's good to be back. I missed you. It's so great to be back with my community! I'd never been offline from Daily Strength for this long since I joined back in 2012. I'm grateful to SunCloud that she kept me up to speed with things here every day via email, that was really super of her.
Me, I've been doing a little dental tourism. A lot, actually. Since in the States our health care system's costs are out of control even with private insurance (co-pays) a lot of us USA folks now pay cash down here for procedures here in Mexico. Not just plastic surgery and that sort of stuff, either. With me, it's a dental implant. I've spent most of the day in the dentist's chair today and then was zonked out on pain killers. I've got a couple more visits to go, too. The dentist's office is state of the art, way better than where I live in Appalachia. Looking forward to a bright smile.
What have y'all been up to?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I hope that you heal quickly from the oral surgery Muji….. Lots of salt water rinses
Big squishy hug.... I'm so glad that you're back on DS.....xo
Yeah, I'm doing ok the day after oral surgery, I have to say. Kind of surprising. Not out of the woods totally yet, more procedures to go. But it's not as bad as I thought inflammation-wise.
I know, sitting in the dentist's chair got my PTSD a little stirred up. I tried to explain it to the doc, but you all probably know how that goes. Drawing a straight line between cause and effect is a little difficult in the moment, no matter how clearly you describe it.
"You're about to hurt me for my own good, I know.
Forgive me, though, that there's a part of my brain that is simply hard wired from past traumatic experience not to believe you. It's not personal, it's just that that's the line I was fed "it's for your own good" line when I was traumatized as a kid and blah blah blah...."
Right?
It makes total sense if you've got PTSD and/or have been around it and its treatment. But a busy dentist and dental assistant isn't trained for that conversation, really, whether in English or in Spanish.
So thanks for your support with it, y'all.
Good to see you posting, not so much getting posted for implants. Healthy healing hugs.
J.
(welcome home)
