It's been a while since I've posted on this website. I quit a year ago because someone basically cyber-bullied me, so I figured it would be best to just leave. I'm back now, though I'm wondering if I should just leave again because when I came back I found a private message inviting me to join a bisexual threesome. Neat-o! (I'm joking, by the way. Not about finding the private message - that sh*t's real for some reason - but about leaving.)
I was just wondering how other people's families react when they get triggers. Mine don't really handle it very well. My sister just ignores it and my mom gets really mad. Like really, really mad. She says that it ruins our outings. I guess it does. She also seems to imply that I can control them. I don't think I can. It comes over me too quick and I guess I'm not emotionally fortified enough to handle it. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to talk to her. She really does want what's best for me, and she really hates seeing me like this, but she really just blows up when I get them. And I don't know what to do. I guess I should see if I can get medications, but I'm always afraid to talk to therapists because I don't think they'll believe me. Like they'll tell me I'm just making it up.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Like if a person is dying of cancer and they hold in their pain and never grumble to the nurses, they're easy patients. Then the next person with cancer comes in and is hitting the call button all the time they're the difficult patient. Both patients are hurting and need help but being polite and nice all the time is what everyone wants. Nurses are there to help all.
Our families aren't nurses, they're people with limited knowledge on how to handle these things. That doesnt let them off the hook tho. If they truly wanted to help they could go to the university of YouTube or Google and try some of the tools taught there. There are plenty of other resources out there to help families how to cope and how to help.
My mom didnt understand any of it and I really needed her. For whatever reason she couldnt do it and it hurt our relationship beyond repair. I hope you have a different outcome. Maybe lead her to the water if she needs a push.
Thank you for your advice and telling me your story. You have a point about the resources and wanting to help the people around you who have PTSD. It made me realize that I'm sort of a schmuck. She's been dealing with suicidal ideations, and I've gone online to try to research ways to help her. Why can't she do the same for me?
However, I don't know how to talk to her about the issues I've been having and the way she responds to them. Like she's argumentative, and she has a quick fuse. Or maybe I'm just too quick to blame. I don't know. Just how do I talk to her about it in a sensitive and positive way?
So I think it is okay however you feel about it. If you can tolerate their ignorance of your ailment then fine, but if it is making you feel badly, maybe a good honest conversation with them would help. Maybe something that starts off with I know how much you care about me and how much my illness affects you, but I feel badly that my situation is having a negative affect on your life. Maybe we should discuss when a particular function of the family is more important than others and then I can limit my time in attendance to it so as to be able to participate yet not alter the event, and perhaps I could recommend some web sites and/or books that might help you to understand why I have limited control over the affects of my ailment. Or really whatever works for you. None of it is your fault, and people we love need to educated more I think. Maybe discuss with your therapist or doctors the situation with your loved ones and enlist the healthcare professionals assistance in educating your family. Sometimes people need to have someone other than their loved one tell them realities. Anywho, triple hugs of support while you find your way through this.~
I'm going to close this post and write you a pm...… Big hug......xo
