My insurance had got shut off so I was without my antidepressant called Remeron. When it got cut back on and I tried taking it again it caused shakiness and all. Friday, I tried Lexapro but BP went too high. My dr decided to try an antipsychotic instead today. I'm scared to try it especially since I'm feeling like I'm having a uti or kidney infection. Don't want bad side effects being caused from an infection. My anxiety is bad though even though I do have klonopin. I'm at a loss.


I'm also kinda scared cause almost 10 yrs ago I took a different drug that's suppose to be similar called ability and it almost killed me


Some say don't try the antipsychotic but I don't know if I can try Zoloft or anything since my BP went up with lexapro.

If bp went up it can be serotonine syndrom which is dangerous condition. Remeron and lexapro combination can cause that reaction. in bad cases reaction can be deadly. Basically need to read drug interactions to determine whether it is safe to take certain antidepresants togather. Posibly remeron was still in your system when you took lexapro and those two interact in negative way. For that reason you had high blood pressure right away.

Basicaly taking Zoloft with Remeron also causes syrotonin syndrom but if remeron is out of your system for longer time than zoloft or lexapro should not cause problems on its own.

If antidepresants like remeron were helping to you than taking neuroleptic would be wrong thing as it acts opposite to remeron so it will remove positive effect caused by remeron.

To me I guess it depends how bad I'm feeling. I went through similar problems as you. I was scared to try anything new. But what it came down to for me was my trust in my Dr. and how utterly miserable I was emotionally. My Dr. advised me to take my first dose on a Monday, in the morning so that if I needed to get a hold of him or needed medical attention I would be able to do so quickly. I tried the Effexor and fortunately didn't have a problem. My Dr. also told me if I thought I was going to have a problem like high blood pressure that I would likely work myself up to doing just that. So he had me real contious of having a relaxed, positive attitude. I'm glad I did it because I can't imagine life without my Effexor.
