Why is it "Hard to believe"?
"SAVED" from what?
"SAVED" how?
What is "SAVED"?
1. Nothing can seperate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. When I read Romans 8, there are some things I add to that list, because I believe that nothing means exactly that. Even if I am in the darkest night of the soul, even if my pain seems unbearable, even if I am assailed by doubts, even if I feel abandoned by God, even if I can't sit through a church service, even if it feels like all hell has broken loose and my nightmare will never end -- none of that will seperate me from the love of God. Even my own failings can't. The same goes for you.
2. Someday He will wipe away every tear from my eyes...and from yours too.
3. God can handle all my questions, even if He doesn't answer them yet. He can handle my anger and my desperate not-quite-prayers and my grief stricken wailing and temper tantrums and whatever I send his way. The Psalms have taught me that. He knows what's in my heart anyway, so it's silly for me to try to pretty up and churchify my prayers. He understands how frail and broken I am, and he loves me anyway.
4. I need one person in my life that I can be brutally honest with about my struggles, and I need this to be someone who won't get scared, freaked out, condemning, preachy, or self-righteous. I need this person to stand by me, love me with the love of Christ, grieve with me, and pray for me when I am incapable of prayer.
5. When I simply can't believe anything anymore, my prayer becomes, "God, help my unbelief." If I can't bring myself to pray that, I ask someone to pray it for me.
6. God promised in His Bible that He would complete the good work He began in me and in you. I can't do it. I can't pull myself up by my own bootstraps. He promised He would finish what He started.
On days like today, I remind myself of these things. I write them down for the next time that it seems that everything good has fled from my life.
I was completely serious when I asked: What is "SAVED"?
Does any of you know the answer?
Are you ignoring this question because you think it's trivial, or because you prefer not to think about it?
Has any of you ever given any thoughts to what "SAVED" actually means?
So is that all? Isn't there more to the word "SAVED"?
