Just a warning--I got scammed this afternoon by an outfit claiming they were calling from Microsoft to do a security check. He said it was a follow up to the Wanny Cry hack that hit 150 countries last month.
I argued with them because I was doubtful, but I did just get a new computer and had trouble with its Windows & security updates, so I let them do a Supremo check into my computer. Big mistake.
In the end they wanted to sell me Dell security products for $299.99 and up. No way would a Microsoft employee be selling Dell products, so I knew I'd let in a scammer. I got off the phone, but the damage was done. He installed a trojan horse malware program that controlled my laptop, making it boot up but then shut down every 2 mins.
Fortunately, it was a backup laptop I'd just bought on Ebay for $45, so losing that much moeny and the work I'd put into setting it up this week was all the damage that was done. It is frightening, though, to be scammed online where I come for support at DS PTSD. There are some not so nice people out there. Boo.
If they got data off of my laptop, it won't help them rob me because I don't keep passwords on my laptop for that very reason. Still , I changed all of my passwords on my bank account and credit cards.
Just thought I'd vent a little, since I'm upset about it, and also give everybody else a heads up so it doesn't happen to them.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Do take care.
Sorry for the yuck, muji. Hope healing happens here.
If you have a windows 10, they do so many updates that's not even funny. They claim it's for security purposes and that helps until the next update. That's why I love Mac products. Glad to know that you changed all the needed credit card passwords, I would also inform the bank of any suspicious activity that might occur within the next 24/48 hours...it' won't hurt to safe guard yourself.
In all the traumas that happened to me I've been sorely tempted to turn into that level of bitter derriere. It seems that somehow so far I've managed not to give in, and I'm proud to have a bunch of pals here who haven't, either. Thanks, everybody.
