This will save you a lot of the initial getting your story out, and give the therapist a heading to start with.
Like arfie says the first is getting aquainted. But even going to someone new may be a stress, so this will help you get through that.
Best and hope this is a good start for you.

Tell them what you want from therapy----your goals. Ask them about their methods and specialties.
And take something that comforts you. My first attempt at therapy back in college was a disaster. My first and only app't with someone in 2013? I walked out in need of anxiety medications because I was hyseterically upset. So take a small stuffed animal (turns out they have scented ones for kids with certain issues), maybe spray it with a favorite cologne or sprinkle with vanilla extract, something you *like*. You can feel the cuddly, and smell the comfort. This helps me a lot at the dentist.
And don't worry if it's not "perfect". I give it four to six sessions if the first one goes well.
And take water, a snack bar, because I get exhausted! I also take my sketchbook, because I doodle for parto f my anxiety and stress management. So if you have something like that? (Knitting, etc.) That means you go in "prepared".
Which, of course, makes you feel more confident and stronger. Or so I'm told, and I don't leave home without my "kit".
Sorry so long, but boy, do I wish I'd known all that before my first few tries!
Good luck!
