The vast majority of my therapy network is and has been anonymous peer support. First names only with no forgiveness necessary for giving a false first name. With the advent of the internet support groups, it is mostly pseudonyms. That's okay. Many of my favorite authors wrote under pseudonyms.
At first, this struck me as idiocy in the extreme. If you want me to show my most vulnerable spots, we'll talk after I have run the background checks and run thorough testing. Here's your bottle to pee in. Now, in front of this witness, please. Don't expect me to let politicians dictate my approved drug list.
But. . . In desperation, after years of trying to dictate the terms of my therapy, I took the leap of faith and trusted the anonymous network.
My chew of the day is the strengths I have found in that anonymity.
Letting go of the need to take and give credit is my current number one. Blame and shame are a form of taking and giving credit. I sure feel lighter when I can let those go.
Equally, healing wisdom needs no copyright. When I absorb a bit of healing wisdom from my anonymous network, I can let the focus be on letting the wisdom sink into my infected psyche without worry about giving credit.

Anonymity brings, for me, freedom.
As for trust out in the real world... I screen everyone I meet and have regular contact through criminal and sex offender databases. I have a son to protect.
