found out I have RLS and my bipolor med. don't mix

Found out I was right I do suffer restless legs syndrome. I also found out what is exactly. It is exactly like parkinsons except another part of the brain. The dopamine to treat it unfortunately my abilify which is my mood stabilizer lowers my level. I cannot take lithum anymore ruined my kidneys if i didn't stop it when i did i would have kidney disease. On the border now. Ability is the only drug that has come close to working for me. What the f#$& do I do now?

Yeah, I got the kidney disease, so do stop the lithium. Chronic Kidney Disease is a bear to live with now. That puts you in a dilemma, though, doesn't it? Seems like you're forced to take the mood stabilizer over the RLS drug, though I can imagine being tempted to go the other way. The consequences of stopping the mood stabilizer are more dire, though, aren't they?

It's a tough one. Much support to you this week.

I'm with Muji--- sympathies, much support, and weigh the "evils". I'm in this boat with my epilepsy meds a *lot*--- best meds for my PTSD? Not the ones I'm on, but I am not messing with my epilepsy control, soooo.... gotta figure what I wanna risk--- less ideal PTSD treatment or having seizures again. Since I can go into respiratory arrest with my seizures? I prioritize that....

RLS sucks, but maybe there will be other ways to help it... I hope you find some soon. Gentle healing hopes....

I too have RLS but I would rather have the bipolar under control than be lost and having the RLS controlled. It's a tough call. Loving support to you!

Sorry you have to confront this dilemma. I don't know how bad the RLS is ... but in the meantime, please work on healing your trauma so you can look forward to stopping the psych meds at some point down the road. I know it's no quick or easy solution but a long-term aspiration ... Are there any alternative healing modes for RLS? Like acupuncture, yoga, bee stings? Not trying to be funny at all - I don't know what's out there and whether any of it can help.

Yucko bucko!!! That is a gnarly dilemma. I have no experience with RLS and will refrain from flaunting my ignorance, but wanted to offer a consoling hug.

Musical meds time again...:(. Grr.
Maybe an anti- Parkinson's drug can be added on top of the Abilify? I don't know, I'm not a doc.
