I immediately go into "I'm fine" mode when I see doctors. It's made it very difficult. All I can do is keep trying. It helps me to talk to others with traumatic childhoods that are doing well now.
As far as going to the Dr, I'm the same way, I never go unless I'm relatively sure I'm dying. Also, my parents were very neglectful in that area when I was growing up. My father was in the military so medical treatment/medication was 100% free but they still never took me (I now believe that this is because they were afraid they'd get in trouble for the abuse). So that probably just carried over from their neglect of me to me neglecting myself because it was "normal".
Also, realizing that your body is valuable to you and that keeping it safe and healthy is something only YOU can do. We often see ourselves as somehow less worthy than other people... so we're more likely to ignore our bodies' cries for help than we would someone else's. "Making friends" with your body seems to be an important part of healing for some of us. You might want to start by doing something that feels good to you at least once a week... a warm bath, a gentle exercise workout, just standing in the warm sunshine and feeling it warm you to the core... things like that will help you reconnect with your body, and once you know what "good" feels like, you'll be better able to feel what "uh oh" feels like, too, and get help.
My three cents' worth. :-)
