Not sure if this will help, but my therapist told me about pause breathing to help with anxiety. Take a breath in, pause, breath out, pause and repeat. Focus on the pause. It helps me because I find I actually have to focus on the pause in order to do it and that takes my anxiety down. I also find visualization is very helpful for me. My happy, safe place is at a cottage in northern Ontario. I visualize myself sitting on the dock at sunrise, I have a cup of coffee, which smells great, the sun is peaking over the hills and reflecting on the water, as it hits the water the mist comes of the water and dances. There is a slight breeze, the air is so fresh I can smell the pine trees. The fish are jumping and the water is so still the only ripples are from the fish. The sun is warm and I can feel it on my skin. I can actually put myself on the dock and re-experience this. How can you be anxious when you are in your peaceful, happy safe place. It works so well for me.
Anyway, know we are with you as you every step of the way.
My prayers go with you,
gentle hugs,
Marie
I have had that with docs when I have suffered extreme or severe pain or anxiety at their office/hands/etc.
You can't even *get* me to this one whole hospital complex.
As CC said, focus on the pause in your breath. The box breathing I learned is a good way to do it for me (breathe in as you count four; hold breath in for four count; exhale count of four; hold the exhale for a count of four.... and repeat.... In two three four; hold two three four, out two three four, hold two three four, in two three four...) It lowers a lot of physical feelings of anxiety from heart rate and BP so you start to respond to that psychologically as well.... I've sometimes had to "breathe the box" for half an hour before I feel steady, but it works. (Each four-count is a side of the "box", hence the name, I guess---inahle is drawing th four up; hold is the crossing line, exhale is the line down, hold is the other line across, and back to the line going up, like you're drawing boxes on paper.)
Will give you soft uprring prayers for peace and a good quick visit that will go well for you....

I watched a video on trying to learn to be happy with the right now, no matter what it is. Find something that is good about right now, even if it is the color of the carpet and use that to help you get through this day.

Now, I will hope my GP appt tomorrow goes well, and I will be breathing that box and so on myself.... We'll make it a clean DS PTSD sweep on doc appointments going well.
