12 years. I know. Stuck that long. What the h--? Then I found the right PTSD therapist and the penny dropped, and for the first time I found out what progress in recovery felt like. I had that doc until 2011 when I lost my job and had to move away to get another one. Now I kind of live off of the progress he made with me in those four years back then.
Be good to yourself, it's not your fault. This PTSD thing is just that mysterious. Not just to us patients, but to docs, too. It's taking all of us to figure it out just a little bit at a time.
Feel free to rely on us for support between your personal growth spurts with PTSD where you get a new insight or a new med works for you. Like when Prazosin came along for nightmares 2 years ago as if it had been made just for me. I'd been waiting for that break since they took me off of Seroquel six years ago. What a relief.
It's not you, aspie, don't blame yourself. It's PTSD recovery that goes in fits and starts.
