I went with that happily for a couple of years because it's genetic and you take lithium for it, which I did. But then kidney disease took the lithium away, and when I went back to the drawing board my psychiatrist re-diagnosed me as PTSD instead of bipolar.
PTSD comes from the opposite source--life events, not genetic brain chemistry. So UGH,unlike when I had the bipolar diagnosis and just took lithium pills, no I had to go through all of my traumas as my treatment for my new PTSD diagnosis.
So that's why I'm here. PTSD is as big of a roller coaster mood ride as bipolar disorder is, and from a less benign source that's not genetic but traumatic. The way I cope with what you say going from a great day to a sad one is what you did here: document it.
That way I can hold on to the good day's reality when the next day denies it. In addition to writing here every day, because it's such a roller coaster ride to have PTSD I keep a daily diary, too.
I hope you got a vanilla bean cream frappe, too, like your sister did. If not, be sure to get yourself one next time, too, and savor it twice. Once when you drink it and once again when you write the memory of its good flavor down for those days when PTSD wakes you up with a bad taste in your mouth.
