Thanks all! He had a preliminary surgery to help blood flow to the heart yesterday. He's also diabetic. My aunt passed away from cancer a month ago; double whammy.

My mom said she will be fine when my brother drives back home today. I wondered if she'd need me there because she'd be alone; no, she's not alone she's suddenly made two new best friends at the house the Mayo has put her in. Well, at least she'll be okay. My husband can't take off work and I don't drive. I think I can ride back with my brother to Florida when he goes back..

I think there was an angel wrestling with my brother in my dream last night, like Jacob in the Bible. "You don't know me" my brother said. The blond blue eyed man replied, "yes I know you" ... and my old stuffed animal Chicken was there. He was a big Easter type plush, but one of his legs came off. We had a vacation gag where he'd appear in our vacation photos, like Flat Stanley or something.

I'm so sorry this is happening to your Dad, and to your whole family. He's at a world class hospital, with world class doctors, so I think that is a HUGE positive in such an awful situation. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts.

Thank you. So ironic that a man who avoided the doctor and dentist for so many decades has received so much help from them.

Can't help feeling upset about him eating bacon and eggs every day for his 3 PM "breakfast" and my mother going out to get him BK Whoppers late at night - every night! He'd just gotten terrible news about his health at a checkup, so much family follows that up with taking him on a road trip to Florida! They didn't tell me they were doing that

sounds like my dad. i lost him last year. he was massively overweight, diabetes, heart attacks, lost half his leg and was going to lose his other when he died. i could go into a black hole just talking about it, but just to let you know, you're not alone.
