Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Support Group
Find support with others who have gone through a traumatic experience. Whether you have chronic or acute PTSD, we are here for you.

A support group topic I benefitted greatly from within my Spanish speaking support groups which has not translated well to English was built on the musical hit of Jarabe de Palo in a tribute to Cuban American superstar, Celia Cruz. For anyone who might be interested, here is the Spanish language song.

As a support group topic, the goal was radical acceptance of our conditions and to look for the strengths within our dysfunctions. I wish translating between languages was as easy as picking up a dictionary, but it isn't, especially in the psychotic arenas. I.F. I have translated well enough to proceed, I believe I listed my top 3 personal benefits from my healing journey as:
1) Honesty. My psychoweirds exact a much higher price for me than for Jane Q. Average for even the "White Lies." Better to walk away than to lie.
2) Compassion. Forgiving myself for the dysfunctions of my own psychic injuries has given me extra insights to the pain of others.
3) Tolerance. 1 + 2 equals tolerance enough to let an asshole be an asshole without judging the rest of the body for the stink bomb. We all have assholes and good health requires we use them daily.
Am I making sense? I.F. so, anybody wanna play?

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

So many people want to pretend emotion doesn't exist... at the same time they're full of anxiety and distraught by trying to negate it
Gratitude..... I have learned to be grateful for my life.... I have mini conversations with myself as I think about how much many blessings I have had in my life and there have been far too many to count each and every day
Gratitude for little things that don't show up in Sunday sermons or cultural propaganda campaigns is an awesome strength, as well.
How am I supposed to know if I'm too tough or too soft on myself.
And who can I trust enough to give me an independent opinion?.
Ditto for any caring souls who are brave enough to give me their independent opinion.
Hugs :)
& especially your #2 that you wrote about compassion resonates with me
Big hugs <3
Las locas se viven mejor. . . Para siempre.
So I loved that Cuban song. It reminds me of my favorite Uruguayan singer Jaime Roos's song "El loco Antonio."

It's not nearly as danceable--what could be?--but along the same lines.
Vivan todos los locos!
