Patti, you know they are out there. I run into a lot of them when I do my grocery shopping. For some on this site, it truly takes courage, which is acting in spite of the fear. Hugs.

I know, patti. Or even before that, just to get out of bed in the house before even thinking about facing leaving it.

What you say about good people reminds me of the old Greek philosopher Diogenes. From Wikipedia: "He became notorious for his philosophical stunts, such as carrying a lamp during the day, claiming to be looking for an honest man."

I'd like to think if he'd lived today instead of 2300 years ago good old Diogenes would be one of us here on DS. To me DS is today's technological equivalent to the lamp Diogenes carried. A light in the darkness that helps me see people who care, too.

Patti, after 20 years of violence and trauma ( I admit I was a complicit victim) I am left with a serious case of agoraphobia- an aversion to leave my home, where I am comfortable and feel safe. Sometimes I stay in for days without any human contact except my connections with my friends online or on the phone.

I have a wooden sign on the wall before you enter my bathroom, given to me by my Property Manager. It is carved from wood: "Believe There is Good in The World." It is a constant reminder.
