CKD pain from PTSD meds interrupted by joy

I just shared with another DSPTSD member here that  I've been in bad pain lately from nerve damage from that Chronic Kidney Disease I got from a bad psychiatrist's giving me too much Seroquel for PTSD nightmares.  It gripes me that I had a bad pain psychiatrist.  What bugs me isn't just that guys like him are healers who are bad.  It's that they go into the specialities  to supposedly treat folks us for pain, for nightmares and we have to trust them.  Come on!  


Anyway, on the plus side, guess what, y'all?  My little poodle had her puppies last night.  7 of them-5 males and 2 females.  And my little poodle is a great little mother, it turns out.  So that's brought a lot of joy to a hard, hard week.  Sending you all support from some of that joy she brought me.

I was healthy enough today, thankfully, to take her for a walk which surprised me since she gave birth just yesterday. She was eager to walk, though, since she spends most of her time nursing her 7 pups.

My poodle is white, so since she had 7 pups it occurred to me that what I've got on my hands is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Ha! They're being really cute and she's a great mom. Forgive me for saying so, but those who know my story know that I'm here in large part from trauma from my mentally ill mom. She was so extremely abusive that she was eventually arrested by police abroad and deported, that's how bad she was. I never had kids, so this is my first experience with birth and I must say my poodle is a better mom than my human mom ever was.

That's not to put my mom down further, there's no need for that. It's just to say that's how great a mom this little poodle of mine is. She breastfeeds them, she arranges them gently in her mouth within her dog bed, she quiets them down for their naps, she does it all. It's quite amazing for a guy like me to behold, honestly, quite a blessing to behold.

Thanks, lilmiss. It IS so sweet. Today when I woke up from my afternoon siesta it so happened that all of my dog's 7 pups were napping at once. My dog came to the couch begging to be allowed to jump up on my lap for a hug and some petting like back in the old days before she became a mom. She's been so good that I obliged her.


She loved it. We got a good amount of lap time in. Now her pups are awake, though. I can hear their little high pitched yapping. My dog's gone back to cuddle and nurse them, then. She's such a good dog mother to her pups.

Yeah, SC, my poodle really is a good mother. She nurses them, but she also cuddles then and calms them down. They're all sleeping nestled up against her as I write this right now. Very strong maternal instincts.

    Does anyone here have a comfort item you carry with you when you go out? For example this is my doll, Annie, and I've recently been bringing her with me when I run errrands flor have an appointment. Holding her comforts me. I've bought her clothes, crocheted for her, I recently bought a personalized blanket with her name on it.  Just wondering if anyone else has a comfort item.
