The only thing that helps me is exercise, if i'm very tired it doesn't have to be very hard just a slow jog concentrating on my brathing..
I experience night terrors and heart racing, and nausea, bad tension headaches (both managed by peppermint oil), muscular aches (managed by baths, sometimes pappermint oil), and I get hives (managed by zinc).
I'm like you. Very much need/enjoy peace and quiet, however am not often bothered by young children (in fact they are very grounding for me). Hate loud music, loud sounds, and people who are really loud. Shudder! If I listen to music at all it is usually (not always) soft instrumental
(classical).
I support you in wanting to have someone along if/when you do go out at night. It's a good safety measure...with or without PTSD.
Was homeless for several months...I was out at night all night for lots of nights. Very, very scary!
I'm with you on exercise, BTW (for PTSD). In fact, of all of my tools my tool kit, exercise has made the biggest difference. I want very much to join a yoga class and/or resume good structured workout every day. I bike a lot, which helps but it's not structured exercise.
Once again, you are an inspiration to me. (Making mental note to be more disciplined).
