I bet everybody's real surprised to hear that I have been out making mud pies. This week I have been defending my herb beds against the newest vandals in the yard: the chickens. They sure go for that easy scratch of freshly worked herbs. I have pretty much had to rebuild the trails as well as the beds as I added the fences which -I hope- will keep the chickens out. Most of the herbs have survived the chickenly ministrations.
The meditation floating through recent scrapings and mixings of trails and beds (mud pies) has been the diff between "Change" and "Growth." Conclusions and summaries arenae the goal of meditation. My notion of a good meditation is the long, slow chew. . .
Methinks, maybe, "Change" is born of dislike. "I do not like getting my shoes muddy on a wet day, so I build a trail."
"Growth" is a flow of favorable conditions. "All is well enough that I can become what I was meant to be."
Just chewing. . . Feel free to chew along. . . Or not. . .

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Change is any alteration in conditions, not necessarily in a positive direction.
Growth is an alteration in condition that creates expansion, good bad or neutral.
Progress is an alteration in conditions that creates beneficial results.
That said, yeah... change is about discomfort. Growth is about finding *space* in one's head. For me, anyway.
Chewing thoughtfully,
(And speaking as an ex-farm-girl, chickens don't like the shadow of a hawk on the ground---they used to sell these hawk-shaped things to stick in the ground to cast hawk-shaped-shadows.
Change for me would mean recovery.
Growth would mean maturity.
Perhaps.
Repeat, conclusions are not the goal of meditation.
Your value of meditation, that helped you just do what needed to be done, without feeling stress - reminded me that my current need is to rest, drop back, don't keep trying to fix things while feeling stress, or I can find I've ended up making more mess.
Part of my stress is that I'm angry about the difficulties in communicating - much like you might feel angry and dislike, if you are annoyed as you try to repair the damage. If you are able to just meditate - or work after rest and just accept the need to re-do, you are more likely to be slowly building growth, not just reacting by throwing your feelings around, as I want to do, so I will go rest! Self care first!
Progress sounds good, but following my previous equation, one can progress on a harmful path.... Chew chew.
My chickens will sound the alarm if a crow or raven flies overhead...it's the shadow. Oh, but I had a smartie, a lovely little white hen, a Viking. She could always find her way out of the coop....
Arfie, note. This hen (and her Viking roo) could fly in and out of seven foot (or 9 foot?) fenced garden. One hen can do a lot of damage. Luckily our other hens are more sedentary.
