My boss's boss got very foolish in an all college meeting yesterday.  It has staff and faculty abuzz in a mood for mutiny.  In front of us all, he made an hour long speech about how open he is to "shared governance" but then told us he was instituting a dress code and there would be no vote on it.

Ok.  I'm old school, I wear a coat and tie to class already, but the contradiction was glaring to speak in the same breath about "shared governance" and then tell us what to wear to work without any input on it.

But then he went on to make a lewd comment about a female coworker right up there in front of us all.  That's what has everybody really offended today.

Looking back on it today, I wondered if there wasn't a medication issue for him up there making his speeches yesterday.  His judgment seemed to be impaired, that was for sure.

We're all kind of triggered.  People are taking early retirement.  I have 3 years to go before I can retire, but 

I am looking forward to it.

On the other hand, the inappropriate behavior of my boss in August when I invoked the ADA accommodation for my PTSD now has a larger context.  The poor leadership at my college is affecting everybody now, not just me.  So I don't feel so singled out any more.  Nor do I feel I'm over reacting by applying to jobs elsewhere, even though I'm too old to be on the market like I used to be.  

My feelings are justified.  It makes it a little easier for me to bear, believe it or not.  Kind of like how we may not be able to change our traumas, but we have solidarity here at DS PTSD.
