I believe in God, too. I believe if He had wanted you to abandon everything and go help the people in Joplin, He would have made it so you could go.
I went to a workshop this weekend. A woman who had worked as a naval seal came and spoke to us. She has PTSD unrelated to her job as a navy seal when she had to assist in recovering bodies and so on.
She said everyone has their own 'cocaine' to cope with PTSD. I don't know what her cocaine is. I know what mine is. It is not cocaine. In the meantime, I am working through my PTSD,
I went through inpatient treatment for PTSD a few years ago, but I can say I have never had such help as from this site.
I am so sorry the Veterans from any war have so much trouble getting help for and handling their PTSD. I suspect most of them didn't get the help they needed because they were too proud to ask, and they thought getting help was for the weak.
Getting help for our problems shows great courage, not weakness, and there is honour in recovery. One should bever give up before persuing every avenue. It take courage and the pinoeer spirit to go into unknown territories.
God bless you. Keep the strength. Ask God for courage and strength, and He will show you the way.
Was it in a post titled "why me?".......................
Because i made a comment about why abuse, distaster anything happens to anyone. But did not mean it as a comparison of any kind at all.
They are totally two different things, abuse of a child is probably even more tragic as it could be avoided.here natural disasters can not.
If is my comment you are refering to, i did not mean it like that at all.I tell myself that again not as acomparison but as a reminder that noone planned for me to get abused like noone plans anything bad to happen to anyone.
It just happens, evil people, tornados, ect................
As for child abuse, that is utterly horrific. If you are coming to terms with childhood sex abuse, then you need and deserve all the compassion and support that's possible. I hope you get it.
PTSD is a horrible disease, paralyzing, baffling and debilitating in most cases.
We with PTSD have to find ways to heal. The ways to heal are coming on to this site, forming support systems and seeing a therapist. Make sure you do all three.
