I have a big doctor's appointment tomorrow. Someone here said for me to look at it like a Jiffy Lube service pit stop, so that's the approach I'm going to try to take. But I am a little anxious.
I only have 4 of these appointments per year, one every 3 months. They're for my chronic kidney disease that won't let me take PTSD meds any more. Can't wish for those any more, but if you wish or pray and want to make a wish or say a prayer for me, here's my topic.
I'm down to 40% kidney function, but I've held there for a year. Kidneys don't improve, so they won't go above 40%. But if they hold at 40% again, awesome, 'cause we don't want to slide down to 25%. That's when dialysis happens. As a hospital chaplain I got called by kidney patients to sit with them through dialysis, so I've seen how little amusement there is in it.
So if you read this, my PTSD peers, and wouldn't mind too much making a wish or saying a prayer concerning the test results tomorrow, I'd be thankful. The aim is that I have 40% function again and not 25%, gratefully.
I'll know the kidney test results by tomorrow afternoon and I'll get back to you then.

Maybe write something. Maybe play something you've written. Maybe play the SNOT out of something you know REALLY well -- just tinker with it ... over and over ... and appreciate the subtle differences that you can make ?

I just got back from my new kidney doctor. My kidney function has slipped only a tiny bit, I'm happy to say, and holds at 40%. The new doctor's from India and knows what it's like to miss a faraway home like mine in South America, so he said I was good to go home for a visit in July. Oh, man. Thanks for your prayers. It was indeed a Jiffy Lube type visit.
