It addresses those times when, like all of us, I wonder why I have to have a crack in me called PTSD. Here's the relevant portion from the lyrics to the song "Anthem" by Leonard Cohen. It doesn't explain everything. It just makes me feel better about having a crack in me. Hope it does for someone else, here, too:
The birds they sang at the break of day
Start again I heard them say
Don't dwell on what has passed away or what is yet to be....
[chorus]:
Ring the bells that still can ring.
Forget your perfect offering.
There is a crack, a crack, in everything.
That's how the light gets in.
that's how the light gets in
that's how the light gets in"
Blessings & light all around.

I also am very grateful for the song.
I find that music is therapeutic--lyrics are perfect!
Hope to hear good news soon.
In prayer, sending out positive energy-----vangie
Does it help you, at times like this, to whip out the guitar ??
Maybe write something. Maybe play something you've written. Maybe play the SNOT out of something you know REALLY well -- just tinker with it ... over and over ... and appreciate the subtle differences that you can make ?
Something. Something to soothe you, distract you, and keep you focused on the moment.
Best of luck !
Thanks, everybody. Blessings!
I just got back from my new kidney doctor. My kidney function has slipped only a tiny bit, I'm happy to say, and holds at 40%. The new doctor's from India and knows what it's like to miss a faraway home like mine in South America, so he said I was good to go home for a visit in July. Oh, man. Thanks for your prayers. It was indeed a Jiffy Lube type visit.
If you want to hear it, here's that song, to celebrate:

LYRICS : Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks
Some doors are open
Some roads are blocked
Sundowns are golden
Then fade away
But if i never do nothing
I'll get you back some day
Cause you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And i can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down
And all around your island
There's a barricade
It keeps out the danger
It holds in the pain
Sometimes you're happy
Sometimes you cry
Half of me is ocean
Half of me is sky
But you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And i can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down
And some things are over
Some things go on
And part of me you carry
Part of me is gone
But you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And i can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down
Baby you got a heart so big
It could crush this town
And i can't hold out forever
Even walls fall down
They fall down
