A glitch in my current scouting expedition was the Solar Eclipse. This is one of the best areas in North America for viewing the event and motels, etc., are booked to capacity for the event as people have come from all over the globe to watch the 3 minute event. Local promoters have been playing it to the max.


I woke with fierce anxiety this morning. Crowds? Me? International party? Me? GET ME OUTTA HERE!!!!


I did manage to get myself out into the parking lot to watch with other residents of the barely habitable motel I managed to find a room in for this week. It was pleasant, brief and a bit of a let down. Funny thing about anxiety is that it can make most anything look insurmountable. Once I turn around and face whatever was triggering my anxiety, I always feel a little bit foolish for having made much ado about nothing. *Just* feeling a little bit foolish is progress for me. . . I used to beat myself bloody over ^it^.

It was neat to watch it here in PA. No crowds. We went over to the local environmental center where there is a bathroom and air conditioning. It's hot here and the temp did drop down noticeably a few degrees. It was just us and a few of the staff there. They used our glasses to look. Definitely worth the trouble to get the kids out of school, but I wouldn't have driven hours to see it. We've got an ice cream cake to celebrate.

i did not go outside. my meter is hitting high anxiety and bouncing.

yay for going out in all those people!!! wondering what the glasses look like... picturing 3D paper glasses but they must be more/better.

East coast viewing was good, the neighbor let us use the glasses that are like 3d but have a foil that made the sun look like an orange moon. I went out a few times over about 20 minute span starting with the first little bite until the moon was a little more then half way past the sun. the clouds played too, when the clouds were just right I could see it without the glasses. we didn't get the "total eclipse" the moon was a thick sliver lower then the sun. I liked seeing the event but was to far away to even think of getting into any kind of crowd.
