And there's MORE to the PTSD plan tenure drama
mujicaptsd
Well, this was the last working day before the April 10th deadline for my tenure committee at my college to make up its mind as to whether I get tenure or not. I had been silent ever since March 24th when I turned in my PTSD plan to them, but today I screwed up the courage to email the vice president and ask him about it.
He emailed me back that now the tenure committee has extended its deadline until April 12th. I don't know how, because they told me the April 10th deadline was because the college board meets on April 11th, and they had to turn the names in to the board by the meeting. But not my monkey, not my circus.
I know it's good news that they haven't said "no," but on the other hand it looks like it's turned into a close call situation. More days of stress.
So prayers and support are welcome.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Continued support.
To quote the obvious Tom Petty line .... the waiting is the hardest part.
Still got my fingers crossed for you, Muji.
David, you hit the nail on the head with your song selection for the occasion! That Tom Petty song line "The waiting is the hardest part" has been playing in my head for days as the background soundtrack to this little drama. HA!! :-)

That was so kind. That link was blocked, but I found another Hollies
Youtube of "He Ain't Heavy" and watched it and it lifted me up.
I got my taxes plus a job application to another college done today, too, just in case.
So I'm glad to report that with your support I wasn't just frozen or sunken into depression, but functional.
Thanks, that's what support from here does. Hope you're well, too.
I'm really glad others here think I will get tenure tomorrow. It's the day before the deadline, so to get through the stress I need to vent.
Allowing me to vent, let me say that I expect to receive tenure denial by this community college. They did everything they could to make sure they didn't hear my whole story as a scholar so they could judge me thumbs down. Over and over since I got here I was told I could only tell them about what I did from arriving in 2011 forward. Not the fact that I wrote a book in 1994 and taught on war and peace in Latin America all of my life. Not even that I came in 2011 from teaching about that fresh from Argentina.
So now they can label me a crazy PTSD case that polarized his students in the death and dying classroom. Not mentioning that as a survivor of a car bombing I showed The Hurt Locker in sympathy with other car bombing veterans from this generation in Iraq. No, I'm told I'm "anti veteran" because one evaluation from one student said so. Ignoring all the rave evaluations from other students. Without allowing my lifelong record of teaching and writing sympathetically to trauma survivors. Including working as a hospital chaplain to them directly, I'm labeled crazy by these community college committee members.
As Kurt Vonnegut would say about this absurdity, "so it goes." THanks for letting me vent today.
