Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Support Group
Find support with others who have gone through a traumatic experience. Whether you have chronic or acute PTSD, we are here for you.

Hello! I am new to this group, and have never participated in this type of support group before, but I know I need help. I was diagnosed in 1994 with PTSD, major depression, anxiety, and agoraphobia. Much of this was caused by repeated domestic violence over a 20-year period. Since 2006 there has been no violence in my life, and I now have a beautiful home and secure income. But my past is always like the albatross around my neck, or the elephant in the room: it is a heavy weight.
I have also suffered great losses- materially, yes, but more significantly, many, many friends that I loved dearly. I am estranged from my son for 17 years, and just now have severed my relationship with my daughter. This is why I sought out a support group, because adjusting to this "new normal" is going to be painful and challenging, and I shall need some suggestions.
I am open and honest, and receptive to any guidance.
Thank you,
Stormyblue

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

It was sad for me to part with them as an adult when I began treatment for my PTSD. Since they'd always refused evacuation from combat (we were car bombed once when I was 9 years old) that was their choice, though. Eventually they got themselves in trouble with the government of the country of the mission field where they served and got deported by force back to the States. They were acting out their untreated PTSD, and not just on me as their adult child, but also in ways that government would no longer tolerate.
So welcome to our group. I'm so sorry you're estranged from family members, too, but I understand how that might happen, though I'm not saying it's for the exact reasons why it happened to me. I don't know. I'm just glad you found out. Whatever brings us here with our PTSD, this is a healing place. Ahoy!
I am grateful for our group, to be a part of this healing community.
So sorry about the estrangements, that is a pain like no other.
Huskies...definitely have their own personalities. My son is all but in love with his friend's Husky. You either train them, or they train you. I had a Golden Retriever. In comparison...well is there a comparison?
