After grief Thurs, a laugh Fri night, thank God
mujicaptsd
Thurs night I had all 3 classes I teach meet at my community college gather and hear a guest speaker. All 3 classes are for nursing students about the care of dying patients. The speaker wrote a book about grief in 1997, but when she spoke Thurs night I found out she just lost her adult son to a heart attack he suffered in front of his three elementary school aged children. So it was a good and real evening but intense with grief.
Since I live alone I wondered what to do to unwind in a healthy way today. I live all alone in my little 1 bedroom apartment in my small city like some hermit. I push to get myself out once a month to the city 2 hours away to ball games and concerts even without anyone to go with. I don't make as much money as I used to before I lost my job in 2011 when PTSD crashed me and I got kidney damage, too. Since I got this lesser paying job, I have to be smart about the cost.
This time I bought a $20 ticket to a comedy club and went all by myself!! First time ever. When I got there the manager seated me up front, too!! It was a bucket list evening. I saw comedian Todd Glass, a comedian I'd seen at home on Netflix. I got to shake his hand after the show, too.
Sunday I speak at another church about the healing we do here at DS PTSD (coming out myself but guarding everyone's anonymity, of course). So Sunday will be serious again, like Thurs night was. But I'm kind of proud of going out to laugh, too, this Friday night.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

We had an accidental laugh last night. Domino's Pizza knocked on our door, and of course we assumed Mom had ordered her usual Pile of Pizza, and as we wait for Mom to emerge from her suite to pay the bill.... Suddenly the delivery person gasped, "OMG! I'm at the wrong house!" and ran for the car. We just stood there like, "Uh... What just happened?" Then laughed for ten minutes straight. That'll teach us to *assume*!
I am drowning in family this week. I am thoroughly craving the quiet solitude of the empty nest. The yin craves its yang. During the months that I am driving myself crazier bouncing alone through the echos of my empty nest, I crave the social activity. The yin craves its yang.
I take it one yin at a time. . .
It's not about being perfect. It's about finding the balance.
I thoroughly admire your balancing techniques, muji.
One yin at a time, whatever the yin may be? ? ?
Just philosophicating. . . Reaching for gentle support of a companion on the healing trail.
Okay, okay. . . Getting my yin outa here now. . . Just yinning. . .

And Leo, sounds like your address had become the pizza delivery default destination in your area. HA! That was hilarious.
Meanwhile, trick or treat! :-)
