I made it through another one of my 12 hour work days, teaching from 9am to 9m with only an hour lunch and an hour dinner break. Whew! But it was a good class.

In my night class I just had a guest speaker who is an Iraq veteran come in and speak about PTSD. That way it wasn't about me, but about shedding some light on what we talk about healing from here.

It was a good night. I think some of the so-called "normal" people got a little insight. He was a good speaker. Talked about flashbacks, hyperarousal, dissociating, startle response, good stuff.

I am tired, though.

Sounds like a great class. I see a connection between parts of PTSD and death. After my husband died I experienced panic attacks, hyperarousal and jumpiness...plus more.

It must have been difficult for you and caused a flood of memories. The long day and the topics, no wonder your are exhausted. Take care of yourself and know you helped change the world for those of us with PTSD by educating others.

Thanks, you all. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the conversations here first. CC, while he was talking I was reminded of your working on vehicles over there and how you described how it felt.

On his own, no prompting here, he told a similar story about a buddy of his during one of his Iraq War tours of duty. After his buddy worked on vehicles that had blood in them, some times it would get on his buddy. The speaker the class said at times like that he'd just go sit with his buddy quietly.

Yes, that' s been the work DS PTSD has done in my outlook in the last year and a half. Our particular trauma, our gender experience, etc. can define us uniquely to a point, and that is interesting to be sure. Yet we don't lose that in finding also that there is an overlap for us, too, if we want to live in that space like the overlap in a Venn Diagram, in which we are all connected. I've never inhabited that overlap space as much as I have here, and it's a joy to me daily.
