yes it can.I know other people that where fine untill a tramatic event like a death happend.After that they started dealing with PTSD and things in the past that caused it.

any kind of reference to trauma.

i believe anything that seems traumatic to someone, but isn't classified 'traumatic' in the DSM, counts.

of course a death in the family, there is the normal grief patterns that happen after it..like nightmares, guilt...fear...shame..

i've had various 'trauma's' big and small, trigger small ptsd episodes that aren't linked to the very first thing that caused the main ptsd...

Lots of things can trigger it, unfortunately. Certainly a death or other trauma can trigger the symptoms... sometimes even a smell or a phrase we overhear can do it.

I was doing fine for years then I I had a baby, Moved 3 times, once out of state, my husband and I started school, I worked 2 jobs, one at night. Doc says all that stress brought my symptoms out of control. I think it is classified as delayed onset.
