Remember I posted last week that I had a pickpocket steal my wallet with all of my credit cards and driver's license, etc in it? That the thief made $400 of fraudulent charges on my debit and credit cards before I could get a call through to the companies to cancel them?
Well, several of you mentioned that it wasn't hopeless, that I could take steps to challenge those fraudulent charges and that I might not have to pay them. So I followed up on what you said here, and now the good news:
both my credit card company AND my back reimbursed me for those fraudulent charges!
It's a real relief. Not just because of the money, which does matter to me, but also because it removes that sense of being an isolated victim. I felt that isolation for years during the abuses that gave me PTSD, so when something bad happens I almost assume that's all there is. But you showed me I can speak up and be heard.
Thank you. It's another therapeutic healing moment for me and my self-esteem. I really appreciate your encouraging me to contest those charges and stick up for myself, so I wanted to give you the feedback that it worked. DS PTSD works.

You stood up for yourself and won! What a great feeling!! Now anchor that feeling in your heart so you can draw on it again when needed. Love to see the little guy win!

That is great news! I know how much it means to experience that you are not a powerless victim anymore.

Glad they reimbursed you, too, LoveAlice! If others here hadn't told me about that, I wouldn't have pushed for it. So glad I did, and you, too.

I'm really glad you took all the advice and were able to run with it. How rewarding and wonderful for you. Great job taking care of yourself and your needs. You never cease to amaze me! Namaste

Here I get great advice to run with, believe me. It really helps to run it by my PTSD knee jerk reactions or those things I get hung up on and can't seem to get past on my own. That helps me to balance things out before I make any decision. I'm so grateful! Namaste to you, too.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?
