Yeah, I like living solo because it cuts down on the PTSD startle responses and the brain's radar doing overtime from them. I get all the social stimulation from school and people from school I hang out with afterwards. But as mid summer approaches, it's the doldrums. Usually that's when I go to Uruguay. But I'm not going until August this year because my old undergrad roomie wants to go with me and he can only go then.
It's going to be awesome, but July's approaching as not the usual this year. I do admit to liking routine now. I used to be such an adrenaline junkie. It's kind of funny, isn't it?
I get that a lot since my injury. Now that my movement is easier (not easy, LOL).... sometiems even going outside the house for a few minutes and hearing the noises of traffic on the highway a ways away or something reminds me---okay, the world's there, I'm just here, it's okay....
Thanks for posting!!!
Summer is my big "hide and cry" season, so I gotta watch this issue.
Well maybe its a good thing you and your roomie/friend go together. To mix stuff up a bit, sometimes is a good thing. Yes it gets us moving any how. I backed off DS all together cuz I was told to by my therapist and I been very alone with hardly no support from that therapist since Jan '14
TRIGGER WARNING
I get scared when I am alone. Just thinking about it has tears streaking down my cheeks. I have hurt myself when left alone... not just by overdoing, but with a knife blade partially shoved into my rib cage - I missed my lung by millimeters before I stopped myself. Since then I move heaven and earth to make sure that someone is around.
I had forgotten I did that...
It was easier to make sure that someone was home with me when my daughter still lived here. The first week of May I actually spent four days alone in the house while hubby drove with her and the U-Haul to her new house. The first day one of her friends came over and spent 6 hours just relaxing with me. The next day a different friend checked in for a couple hours. A SNAFU left everyone thinking that someone else was covering the last two days. That is the longest I have been alone since my cancer two years ago.
Crap, I didn't think this would hit me like that.
Time to breath and just calm down.
I usually prefer winter too, because I don't like to overheat the horses, but around here it gets so cold summer is the only time I can ride.
Lilly, this is the only place I feel safe to voice these things. Here I can voice things that would scare my hubby so I don't. But by voicing them I take away a lot of the power they have over me.
Sorry I took this so left field. I did not mean to...

Like I told a couple of others, Dr John was his great self. Didn't know he was great at playing solos on the electric guitar. He had a female trombone player in his band who played some incredible jazz, too.
Glad I went.

Unfortunately, I had a gun pulled on me when I was 4, and have had bouts of agoraphobia ever since.
