I am sorry you are experiencing this too. Over time I have had this trouble. I regret that I can't shed any light myself but am waiting to see if someone can.

If you look at any avatar on this board there are two lines right below the name. One says View More Posts, the bottom line says Ignore. Just hit the ignore button.

You can contact the member, explain the issue and request for him/her to change it.
That is reasonable.
I would change mine if it were distressing someone on this site.

Blocking is simple using the IGNORE approach, but it blocks both avatar photo and everything that member writes- they will no longer exist for you.

Many people use blocking when they feel they must. Protect yourself so you can gain maximum benefit from our support group.

I would think personally complaining to a member about their avatar photo might just create additional stress for you.

SINCE ALL OF US HERE HAVE ISSUES, I WOULD THINK WE COULD COMMUNICATE TO ONE ANOTHER THAT AN AVATAR CAUSES DISTRESS. I WOULD CHANGE MINE RIGHT AWAY. I DON'T CARE ABOUT AN AVATAR. IT IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY AND IF IT IS ANY HELP TO SOMEONE THAT IS IMPORTANT. I WOULD EXPLAIN TO THE PERSON AND HOPE THEY WOULD UNDERSTAND AND PICK A DIFFERENT AVATAR.

The choice is up to the person. I will make the request but I want the person to feel like it is their choice to change or not. This person gives good advice and I like her posts.

dianahunt-the photo you have up looks just like my abuser and sending chills down my neck. If you would like to keep please let me know and I will block you. Please do not feel like you need to do this.
