I HATE IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS!!!!!!
My neighbors have 3 big dogs that have the manners of a coyote pack. Their idea of dog training is to sit back and take joy in knowing their dogs chase livestock and imagining that the neighbors love their dog pack as much as they love the idea of dogs running free. The cattle and horses in the neighborhood are so afraid of dogs that they run in terror at the sight of my dog walking with me. The pack owners think it is SO-O-O cute. I am pretty convinced that such people only love the idea of dogs because a true dog lover does not let their dogs be so neglected and despised. Yes, these are the same dogs that harassed our hives to the point of the bees attacking anything that moved in their vicinity. The man of the house suggested I train his dogs with a shotgun. I don't own a shotgun and don't know how to shoot one, but it is starting to sound like my only viable course of action. I don't really want a gun. I was thinking about investing in a slingshot. I sure hate being boxed into such an ugly corner, but talking sure isn't working. Their latest logic is that if their dogs are not welcome in my yard, I should keep my bees out of their yard.

Check dog laws in that area. A few visits from animal control can work wonders.
I am not big on guns, but maybe a tazer wouldn't be a bad idea for you to carry? Or the grizzly bear spray they sell in hiking places? If the dogs threaten *you*? It's self-defense.
If they threaten livestock? I think that's illegal in *any* state. So might be worth calling in cops--- and it's not cute, it's bullying by proxy. Those people are using their dogs like weapons IMO, and that's a wrong thing to do.

PS If anyone asks why you have a tazer or bear spray, point out that there's a danger of wild pigs, just a thought, we don't have many in my state but I think down your way they can be a problem....

I'm really surprised nobody has shot these dogs already, and not with a paintball gun.
Dogs recently terrorized a neighbor's horse into running into a fence and breaking a hip. The horse had to be put down. So while I really like dogs, i'm also sympathetic to people who shoot them to defend their own animals. Why you absolutely can't let your dogs run like that.

For these people to have this let them roam attitude is not only irresponsible toward the dogs and toward you and others as neighbors. They are wasting a great chance at a relationship between human and pooch that I miss dearly.
