In Feb. 2007 I took myself to the e.r. After suffering from extreme back pain for days. After a night of testing, I was told my appendix was rupturing. I was to have emergency surgery. My dad came to the hospital just before surgery. When I woke up, he told me that it had not been an appendicitis, but that a tumor had ruptured my appendix. I asked if I had cancer and was told they wouldnt know for a few days. I had already had cancer in my leg less than two years before. It turned out that I had appe.dix cancer, an extremely rare cancer. I ended up having two major surgeries, both involving an 18 inch abdominal incision. Since that night in the e.r. I have made several trips to the e.r., all of them for valid reasons related to the appendix ca. However, there are times when I feel the need to go there and be seen, and I don't know why. It has been five years. To make matters worse, I can actually SEE the hospital from where I live. In the beginning, every detail of that first night in the er that led to my cancer dx played in my head like a nonstop movie. Although that has gotten better, sometimes I feel the need to go there and it makes me scared because I don't know why I am having these feelings so long after the fact!!!!! Can anyone help me out here??? I am fighting the feeling to go in right now. Night time is the worst time for me, when I feel the need to rush to the er. Thank u for listening!!!!!

As far as help, lots of deep breathing. I know it doesn't sound like much but at times when the anxiety starts to rise, it may honestly help. Remember too that you are not alone, ever. Many hugs and hang in there. I hope you figure this all out and start to find some relief soon.
