Hi, haven't been here for a while. I've been through a lot of pain this week, but thankfully was able to have a good cry last night which provided much relief. Plus, I upped my meds a notch, because even after the cry I felt very vulnerable. The pain's been from a few memories in particular - they are in my mind in high relief, from 26 years ago. I reduced my meds a lot this year.
I'm also doing EMDR therapy, which has really helped a lot.
Also, I'm in AA but have a lot of trouble with socializing. I don't feel very accepted or like I belong, I can't relate to people who experience love and support there. I feel very much left alone.
This week, I'm forcing myself to socialize more. It doesn't come naturally to me, but I feel better for making the effort. Can't 'share' at meetings these days, due to feeling vulnerable and like people don't want to hear me. Anyway, I'm sick of hearing myself!
then, tonight, about 3 women said they like hearing me share. plus, I went for dinner with some women even though I wanted to run home. Ended up feeling a whole lot better.

Upon his departure, he remarked, "I am in many people’s pockets; no one will believe you." Have you ever grappled with the silence that follows sexual assault, where the perceived impossibility of being believed necessitates self-censorship?

Not feeling like you can share at AA must be a big loss for you. But it sounds like you might be coming out the other side of that already. Even though it's hard, I'm happy for you that you're going through this because I think you will reap great rewards in feelings of love and connectedness.
I'm also doing EMDR. It's slow going for me, and leaves me exhausted. I hope I derive as much benefit from it as you.
I want to try EMDR. My therapist thought it might be a bad idea for me, but I might ask to try it with her anyway and see what she says.
