I'm in pretty good spirits these days, having first broke down in '87. But the tiredness is something that stays with me. I can only work part time, if ever!
Hope this makes you feel less alone too!
So I hoped the dr could help me. He said it sounded like a thyroid problem (my mom has a thyroid problem and I also had gained a lot of weight). But my blood tests came back normal except for a vitamin D deficiency. He gave me a prescription for vitamin D but it has not helped really.
I am lucky that I have a govt job and can get away w/ taking off a lot of time from work. But I feel like it is impossible sometimes to carry on a job w/ this condition. I just keep pushing myself telling myself that I should be able to go to work like everyone else, especially when I have such a lax job and can basically get away w/ doing nothing all day. But also my job has been the cause of quite a few breakdowns. Today I was triggered a lot and am still dealing w/ that tonight. Not even sure I will go in tomorrow because I am so upset. I keep thinking about trying for disability but then I feel like I'm being weak and giving up if I do that. Why can't i just be normal and wake up everyday and go to work everyday and be fine like everyone else? Why does daily life have to be such a struggle? I'm so tired of living this way. I also hang on because there is a possibility of being able to work from home in the future and I figure if I stick around long enough for that, everything will be fine. I won't have to deal w/ the stress and triggers from people at work.
I have never had a job where I sat all day long. When I graduated from nursing school, I worked in a nursing home. I was on my feet most of the time. Then, I was a public health nurse, on the go all of the time. Then, I worked in a psychiatric hospital, on the go all of the time.
I once had a job where I had to sit at my desk all day. It was all I could do to stay awake.
We are not meant to do every job on the planet. Some people would love to sit at their desks all day. It would drive me insane.
